1m3 multifunctional accomodation unit 01/2008 / collaboration with Trevor Eggimann & Denise Walker

A perfectly reduced space for living. From desk and washing machine up to a place to sleep, everthing essential for living is included. 1m3 the starting point – chaos as intention. The result: multi-functionality. Taking a closer look this object turns out to become a complete anti-functionality. Through human intervention at the object, it drifts inevitably in a chaotic state and through a discrepancy between imagination and reality the human thinking process ends up in chaos. In the truest sense of word: „appearances are deceiving.“ The reduced living unit captures a diversity of ordinary everyday objects. Just the anticipated functionality is limited or completely eliminated. It‘s not to be understood as a product, but rather as critical analysis of what design, function, multifunction is for and how far you can go with it. Between a piece of art and an object with a cover of an product 1m3 shifting in a daredevil way between this two spheres.
